We are in picturesque Linville, North Carolina for the 60th Annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
My husband is producing the digital media and drone camera footage for the 4-day event, and I was happily able to tag along as his PA (production assistant).
We’ve been to lots of Scottish festivals before in Georgia, but it’s the first time we’ve ever attended these games and they are looking to be a pretty big deal.
I thought I would journal our experience in the blog so I could share the charming and slightly kooky escapades I’m confident will lie ahead.
Did I mention there are three whole days of sheepdog trials?
::highland happy dance::
We are off to film aerials for the torchlight run tonight., so I’ll be back later with more photos.
slàinte Mhath, y’all!
:::highland happy dance:: I’m anxiously awaiting for my first time ever to see a Drone footage of pipers…that should be spectacular!

I’ve been to a few of these events over the years here in Scotland but the sky was never that colour that I recall.
Wind up the kilts is more than just a saying. ;

Yes, I saw lots of wind up the kilts. It’s sad they don’t make eyeball bleach. 😦 Somethings can never be forgotten.
It was a particularly lovely, deep Summer blue sky. Our special guest was Jamie McNabb, Chief of the Name, and he made the same observation. Overall, wonderful games and some incredible experiences. I got to carry half of the Clann Ferguson Banner in the Parade of Tartans!
