~My theme for this month’s Nano Poblano challenge is Motion~
I’ve had this song entrenched in my brain the past few days, fading in and out like a movie score.
For an earworm, it’s not such a bad one. It takes me sailing back in time over waves of music and memories.
We were borne before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won
As we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that foghorn blows
I will be coming home
And when the foghorn blows
I want to hear it
I don’t have to fear it
and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow
into the mystic
When that fog horn blows
You know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows
I got to hear it
I don’t have to fear it
and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow
into the mystic
My favorite cover of this song -I so love this live version from the Zac Brown Band. Rockin’ fiddle on the intro.
(photos were shot by me on our last sailing trip. The sunset was amazing that night but I loved the starkness and feeling of movement in the black and white versions).
Reminds me of….”I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky. And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by. And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song, and a grey mist on the sea’s face and a grey dawn breaking.”….
